Hello Possums!

Tuesday, February 19th, 2013

I’ve received a lot of requests for some ‘Australiana’ style designs over the last few months but it’s hard to come up with Australiana which fits in with the ‘feel’ of  Note Couture’s illustrations as I tend to stick to elegant, quirky or humorous designs.  However I had a special request the other week from one of my regular customers for a possum as she had a close friend who ran a wildlife sanctuary, so I have added this lovely brushtail possum design – a bit more stylised than my typical design – which I couldn’t resist calling Hello Possum (hope I don’t get sued by Dame Edna!)

So love them or hate them (I think gardeners probably fall into the latter group), it’s a great design to use as a gift for overseas friends.

I hope you like it, and please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any other suggestions.   :-)

    Gorgeous new baby designs …

    Tuesday, February 5th, 2013

Now I’m not quite sure what happened around 8-9 months ago, but I’ve had a heap of emails asking for more new and fresh pics in the Maternity Collection.  I can only imagine that there must be a lot of baby showers, new birth announcements, and christenings happening soon (not to mention a heap of thank you notes in response to beautiful baby gifts)!  A big congratulations to all the new or soon-to-be-new Mums.  In response to these requests, I’ve added four gorgeous illustrations:

    Baby Toys - Note Sheet

New pea in the pod - Notecard

Animal Train - fully personalised invite

New Bub Info - Correspondence Cards

Note that the quantity of ‘safety pin’ announcement boxes in this pic will depend on the information you type in – there are four boxes to cover off name, date of birth, weight and length, but if you only type in a name and date of birth  there will only be two boxes containing that information  … clear as mud??

      Gotta love love!

Guaranteed to get your heart beating a little bit faster is  Love Heart.   Personalise with a heart-felt message and you’ll feel the love. :-)

      'Love Heart' mini notepad $9

The mini notepad is a perfect little “I’m thinking of you” gift for a girlfriend,  the correspondence cards are just right for a newly married couple to write their thank you notes on, the To Do List or Mousemat Notepad would look great on your home desk as a reminder of how much you love your partner and/or kids and the personalised invitation would be a great call-to-party for any anniversary or engagement get together.

        A celebratory banner …

        Wednesday, October 10th, 2012

I love a good party – and with it being October, we’re definitely heading toward party season!

Be it an engagement party, dinner party, post-races party, christmas party, birthday party or just a what-the-heck-it’s-time-for-a-party party, this heart banner is perfect for your next invite.  In fact, as you can probably tell, I’ve gone a bit ‘dotty’ over it  :-)

Heart Bunting fully personalised invite (available in standard and deluxe card)

And of course, the design is available in all of my usual stationery formats, so it’s lots of fun for day to day notes and to do lists, or as your desk mousemat notepad.  No doubt about it,  it will certainly make your heart smile.

Calling all soon-to-be Mums (and their friends)

          Thursday, April 26th, 2012

Are you ‘in the family way’, ‘eating for two’, ‘with child’, ’knocked up’ or just plain old ’having a baby?  Well this new design could be perfect for you – Chic Mum to be - use a spiral bound notebook for your maternity journal,  organise invites for your baby shower and thank you notes for all the wonderful prezzies you receive, or simply get organised with a to-do list  (it’s well documented that ‘pregnancy brain’ plays havoc with the memory, so best to write down that daily list of tasks).

Or if it’s a friend who’s ‘got a bun in the oven’ then what better gift than a cute notepad or box of note sheets for their desk – a reminder of all the excitement to come in their life.

I love a bit of name confusion …

            Wednesday, April 13th, 2011

My husband has a problem remembering what each piece of women’s clothing is called – so I often play a game with him (bad I know … but funny!!).   He’ll say to me – “That’s a nice dress” and I’ll reply “Thanks, but it’s a frock”, or he’ll say, “nice jumper” and I’ll say, “no it’s a cardi”.  Then the next time, I’ll reverse it – if he calls it a ‘frock’,  I’ll say it’s a ‘dress’.  But I’m not really as mean as I sound … I’m pretty certain he’s worked it all out by now, and just plays along for a giggle.  :-)

Anyhoo – I just uploaded this cute new pic by Kathryn Fletcher – ‘Apron‘.    Or is it a Pinny?  Or a Coverall??  I’d love to hear what you call it.

Available in all formats – terrific for a kitchen tea invite, a recipe card, a shopping list or a label for those yummy jars of homemade goodies.

Want to make your Christmas Day even more special?

              Monday, November 8th, 2010

Both Australian and overseas magazines are talking about the trend back to sending out invitations.

Why not make your Christmas Day lunch or dinner that little bit more special with one of our two new illustrations:  the formal black type  Dinner Setting, or the more casual red and green Christmas Dinner Setting.

                I think it’s love!

                Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

Cute new pic uploaded to the website today – Love me, love me not!   This would be great as a notepad for thank you notes for engagement/wedding gifts, or to announce an engagement.

Love me, love me not - Cardv2

Speaking of weddings – I have to have a little ‘rant’ – what is it with Bridezillas???  I know your wedding day is meant to be special, but!…..  I had a call earlier today from a woman who wanted to order some address labels for her wedding - and just to remind you, we’re talking about a $13.00 purchase here.   She said she wanted some ‘special’ labels and asked which kind I used.  When I told her I used Avery matt sheeted labels she asked me to get some ‘special’ ones for her.  At this point I attempted to tell her that the way I keep the prices down on the website is to only stock a limited variety of paper, card and label varieties, but no – she interrupted - she wanted me to get in the car and go out and find something especially for her.  When I politely pointed out to her that it just wasn’t feasable for me to spend a minimum of an hour on a $13.00 order, she became incredibly rude and said  “I thought that was what you did – thank you sooooo much for your assistance, I won’t waste any more of your time” and slammed the phone down in my ear.  Nothing like being impolite when you’ve got a ‘blocked’ telephone number!

I think those of you who know me will know I always go the extra mile to keep my customers happy, however this woman really reminded me why I have very little to do with bridal products!  So instead of doing what I would normally do and feeling worried about offending her, or brewing over the conversation and getting upset about it (hmmm – my meditation classes must be working), I’ve decided to just feel incredibly happy and lucky that she didn’t place an order with me and that I don’t have to deal with her.  (And have this little rant to get it all off my chest of course!!)

I wonder if her soon-to-be hubby will love her (or love her not) when she starts acting like that once they’re married!  :-)

A customer emailed me last week – her grandaughter was about to have her Bat Mitzvah and she needed to send out invites, but there was nothing on the website that suited.  So, using the Custom Print option, I created one …  just for her.  She briefed me that her grandaughter loved pink, and flowers, so we agreed that the agapanthus flower in the ‘Field of Flowers’ illustration would look great on the invite.  She checked out all the typestyles available and chose Charlemagne – formal but not too serious, decided she wanted the deluxe invite  card stock and envelope, and hey presto, her custom invitation was born.   Easy and everyone was very happy.  Check it out.
